The Name Game

 

The Name Game, in its many variations, is probably the most common ice breaker around.  It’s a simple, easy way to start a semester or meeting with everyone feeling more comfortable.  The basic name game covers only names, as its title suggests, but the more advanced variations on the game give a little more information about the participants.  Here are a few different takes on the name game:

Basic Name Game

 

The simplest an easiest name game is a fantastic way to get a group ready to interact in a fairly short time.  It starts at one end of the room with the first person saying their name.  The second person must say the name of the first person and then introduce themselves.  The third person must introduce the first two people before saying their own name.  This continues until everyone has been introduced.  If someone forgets a name or makes a mistake, they must start
