The Human Knot
A staple ice breaker is the Human Knot. It allows participants the opportunity to creatively, constructively, and communally solve a problem. It is best played with ten people, but any group of five or more will work just as well. The goal is to create a human knot, and untie it without breaking the chain by letting go.
Start off standing in a circle and have everyone take the left hand of someone across the circle from them. Then do the same with the right hand. As long as no one has the hand of the person right next to them, they are ready to start untangling! Some easy variations on this basic game are adding a time limit, penalties for breaking the knot, making it a silent game, or using blindfolds.
