Everyone can admit to being a little nervous about a meeting or a new group setting. This activity allows everyone to acknowledge their fears anonymously and then address them as a group. It also allows group members to move past their concerns and think constructively about the future.
Have each member write down a fear they have as it pertains to the activity at hand. Then collect the fears in a bucket and read them aloud, discussing them and why they are either rational fears or not. After all the fears have been addressed and everyone is more relaxed, pass a second bucket to collect papers on which everyone has written a vision they have for the future of the group. Read the visions aloud and brainstorm about the potential of the group.
